FREQUENCY PINS

The fact that there was no frequency chart in use to see who was flying on what frequency has been brought to the clubs attention. Yes, we all know each other and who fly's on what channel. I, for one, have to pay for that really expensive gas and drive over 1 1/2 hours just to get to the field and don't know what frequency's are being used. Having said that, starting March 25th, 2003 it will be mandatory for all who fly to bring a tag with your transmitter number on it and place it on the flying wire when you are going to fly and remove it when your done. At no time is the transmitter to be turned on without posting your RF - radio frequency - number.

Bill came up with a safe way to adjust the carb on his plane. See text below.

Walbro Carburetor Adjustment Tool

I found it almost impossible to hold a screwdriver on the main and idle screws on my Walbro carburetor while the engine was running. I made this tool from ¼ inch O.D. and 9/32 inch O.D. brass tubing. I drilled a small hole as shown in the picture and soldered a bent pin in the hole. The small end is for the idle screw and the large end is for the high speed screw. It only took 15 minutes to make.

CAMARILLO

Model plane propeller critically injures man

A Camarillo man was in critical condition Saturday after his left arm was cut by a model airplane propeller, according to a police report.

Daniel Diaz, 42, was taken to Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, where a nursing supervisor said he was undergoing surgery.

The accident occurred around 2:40 p.m. at the Condor Model Airplane Field near California State University, Channel Islands, the report said.

Diaz suffered a "large laceration" to his left arm, the report said. More details about the accident were not available.

Paramedics from the Ventura County Fire Protection District and American Medical Response responded to the call, which first suggested that the propeller had amputated Diaz's arm, the report said.

A Ventura County Sheriff's Department helicopter airlifted Diaz to Los Robles.

Tom Bass Park, Houston Texas

Man Killed in Texas with .60 sized Heli.

Once again we have sad news. As I read it on the RC Universe pages I couldn't believe it. A father and son were learning to fly the Heli. The Son watched as the Trainer gave the remote to the trainee to fly. All was ok until a gust of wind pushed the heli into the duo and the instructor was hit in the throat, causing far to much damage to be treated and his life was lost.

What would you do in case of an emergency? According to witnesses at the scene, they fought with 911 for 10 - 15 min to get someone dispatched. In all, 35 to 40 min. were spent waiting for the EMT's. If there were an emergency of any kind at our field, would you know what to do to get help?

I am sure this will be addressed in the next meeting. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
